The benefits of recycling are endless, and in many cases, it is not a heavy lift for homeowners, property managers, and building owners to participate. America Recycles Day® (ARD), a Keep America Beautiful national initiative, is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. Exquisite Property Services can help identify your recycling challenges, offer solutions, and even help implement new processes. We have shared some of our services and invite you to enjoy the information about America Recycles Day from the Keep America Beautiful website.
What is AMERICA RECYCLES DAY®?
America Recycles Day is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States! Held on and around November 15, America Recycles Day (ARD) educates and encourages individuals to be more mindful of what they consume, where and how to recycle properly and pledge to recycle more and recycle right in their everyday lives.
Focusing on individual action, the day highlights the actions we can all take to collectively address the challenges facing our nation’s recycling system. Through ARD, Keep America Beautiful and its partners inspire communities and individuals to recognize the economic, environmental, and social benefits of recycling.
Keep America Beautiful urges people to reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle in every aspect of their lives.
- Recycle at home, work, school, and on the go.
- Buy products made with recycled content; and
- Educate and encourage friends, family, and neighbors to do the same

How did AMERICA RECYCLES DAY® begin?
Also known as National Recycling Day, this day began in 1994 after two Texas Commission on Environmental Quality employees suggested the idea to the National Recycling Coalition. The first America Recycles Day was officially held on November 15, 1994, and over 40 states participated.
Why is recycling important?
Recycling is important to ensuring our planet remains healthy. There are many great reasons and benefits to recycling, which include:
- Reducing landfill waste
- Conserving natural resources such as oceans and forests
- Helping to lessen the burning of fossil fuels, which can decrease the emission of greenhouse gas

What is a waste audit?
You may not know what you don’t know, so how about a waste audit? A waste audit is an analysis of the waste stream from your facility. It can identify what types of waste are generated and how much is gathered. A waste auditor goes through bags of garbage and sorts the items. They then record and analyze the data. This will identify what is being thrown away, recycled, or diverted through other means and the amounts of each type by weight or volume.
A waste audit spotlights inefficient waste practices and can improve sustainability. Change and improvement occur through the execution of good quality recycling programs and understanding your home, school, or business’s waste stream.
We will conduct an audit at your facility and provide a consultation to review the results. We provide you with recommendations and best practices that can be put in place to reduce the amount of waste you generate and save money. All waste audits are free. Customers who have waste audits conducted receive a 10% discount on all recycling and trash pickup services (bulk trash not included). Contact us for more information.
Let’s talk about Responsible Appliance Disposal (RAD)
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Responsible Appliance Disposal (RAD) program is a partnership launched in October 2006 to protect the ozone layer, cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and benefit communities. The RAD Program recognizes Partners that commit to collecting and disposing of old refrigerated appliances using best environmental practices and going beyond what federal law requires.
Exquisite Property Services is proud to be a RAD partner, and we are committed to responsible appliance recycling. RAD Partners voluntarily take on the responsibility of recovering the insulation foam from end-of-life appliances. In addition, up to 25% of disposed of refrigerators/freezers are resold onto the secondary market, and the continued use of these older, less efficient models demands more energy from the nation’s grid. RAD Partners collect these older, inefficient appliances from consumers and work with recyclers to ensure the proper handling of all materials in compliance with federal law, saving energy and reducing the emissions of ODS and GHGs. RAD Partners also commit to annual reporting to track the environmental impacts of their efforts.
